Fortunately, the rock exploded twenty miles above ground. A slight change in the angle of attack and, well, not a pretty ending. Had this debris skipped over us thirty years ago it might have initiated a nuclear exchange between the USSR and the USA and Europe (fewer satellites watching, no such thing as cell phones and dash cams to record what happened.) It's a wow.
